The Best Buddies Challenge: Hearst Castle routes are all well marked and fully supported. Rest stops along the ride routes feature energy food and drinks, bathrooms, and mechanical and medical assistance. As part of the five-star experience, all rides are supported by support vehicles and law enforcement officers once underway. And, sweep vans along with official support riders assure that no participant is left behind.
100-mile ride [map]
Beginning at the Quail Lodge Golf Resort in Carmel, riders wind their way south along the scenic Pacific Coast Highway. You’ll ride over historic Bixby Bridge, pass through Big Sur and trace the coast pass Elephant Seal Beach on your way to the Hearst Ranch in San Simeon. While the terrain is challenging, there are four rest stops along the way (approximately every 25 miles) and official support cyclists and vehicles on the road.
62-mile (100K) ride [map]
Starting in Big Sur, riders follow the last 62 miles of the 100-mile route. You’ll pass through giant redwood forests and spectacular vista points. There are three rest stops on this route and official support cyclists and vehicles on the road.
30-mile ride [map]
Departing from Sand Dollar Beach, riders follow the last 30 miles of the 100 and 62-mile routes along breathtaking bluffs and sandy beaches. There is one rest stops along the way and official support cyclists and vehicles on the road.
15-mile ride [map]
Departing from Vista Point and following the last 15 miles of the 100, 62, and 30-mile routes, our 15-mile course is great for novice riders. The terrain is rolling to flat, without any long climbs. There are no rest stops along the way, but there are official support cyclists and vehicles on the road.
5K run & walk [map]
Led by Olympic Gold Medalist, Carl Lewis, and beginning at the Hearst Ranch Finish Line in San Simeon, runners and walkers follow a mostly flat route along the Hearst Ranch beachside property.
